Contemporary Alexander Technique

Please contact me to schedule a session or with any questions

I am a dance artist and somatic teacher who is deeply curious about the sentient world and my entanglement within it. I have spent most of my life tending to the things that grow between the cracks. It is in this liminal space where I touch upon the things that cannot be named and find new meanings for the things that are. I bring 20+ years of studying and teaching movement and somatic forms that deeply integrate and inform my Alexander practice. I love teaching Contemporary Alexander to others, as it is an honor to support significant change in ones’ personhood in whatever unique ways those changes take shape (express).

I started my Alexander Technique journey over 12 years ago as a student with a chronic neck injury. From the first moment I stepped into a lesson it was clear that this work touched much more than my neck (cervical spine).  The work helped me through the transition into motherhood, and all the complexities of living in this moment in time. Whatever brings you into the work you are welcomed here.

I am a graduate from the Contemporary Alexander School/Alexander Alliance International (US) directed by Robyn Avalon.

What is Contemporary Alexander Technique?

Alexander Technique supports our innate humanity, it supports our connectivity to the world around us and helps us find real support within our bodies in relation to ourselves and others. The work is about being in relation to choice around habits and ideas that define us to awaken into possibilities currently outside our awareness.

Contemporary Alexander technique supports you inside of your life’s activities. It is a hands-on study of how you move through the world. It is relevant for all peoples, be you a new parent (holding a 10 pound baby!), a performing artist wanting to find a new edge in their practice, and/or a knitter. It is for any body wanting more ease and rest in your life at any stage in your life. In a session gentle touch is used to feel into one's nervous system. Sometimes you lay down on a massage table. In every lesson you take away real physical things to work on. You are the co-creator of the lesson and have a practice to attend to away from the lesson, in support of what is currently manifesting for you. The study is both practical and profound and many feel a renewed sense of balance, connection and support.

I am deeply committed to, and continue to work on, cultivating a practice that is anti-racist and queer affirming.

Why would you be interested in trying an Alexander Lesson?

- you want more consciousness around your habits so that you have choice—all habits show up in your body somehow be they physical, emotional, through belief patterns, and otherwise.

-you have pain and/or tightness in your body and you want relief (ease) from the pain/tightness.
-you want to be more present in the life that you are living.
-you want more joy, resiliency and access in your life and in your relationships.
-you feel you are not living your most courageous life.
-you are curious about what this technique offers
